About This Place

Located in the heart of Emeryville, Townhouse offers an inviting Californian restaurant, bar & grill experience that combines savory comfort food with sophisticated flavors in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. This local gem has mastered the art of serving dishes that cater to both casual diners and food enthusiasts alike, crafting each plate with fresh, quality ingredients that bring the best of coastal California to your table.

The menu at Townhouse reads like a celebration of well-executed classics and inventive twists. Among the standout dishes, the Dungeness Crab Baked Mushrooms showcase a luscious blend of creamy cheese and crisp breadcrumbs, delivering a sublime bite that’s both rich and satisfying. Meat lovers will revel in the hearty Prime Rib Dinner and perfectly seasoned Pork Chops, while the Chicken Piccata offers a lighter, vibrantly tangy option, balancing buttery lemon sauce with tender chicken.

Seafood aficionados will appreciate the freshness of the Cioppino and the generous portion of Seafood Pasta, each bursting with briny, oceanic flavors that highlight the ingredients’ natural sweetness. The Fish & Chips are expertly fried to a golden crisp, accompanied by a spicy cocktail sauce that offers just the right kick to awaken the palate. Not to be missed are inventive sides like the Fried Brussels Sprouts — crispy, slightly caramelized, and full of earthy notes — and the indulgent Garlic Fries, which elevate your standard fries with savory garlic goodness.

Diners looking for lighter fare will find the Townhouse Salad and the Caesar Salad with Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese refreshingly vibrant, packed with fresh, ripe vegetables and perfectly balanced dressings that never overpower the natural flavors. The Avocado Bruschetta, with just a sprinkle of sea salt and a drizzle of balsamic reduction, is a delightful starter or light snack, beautifully marrying creaminess and tanginess.

The welcoming ambiance of Townhouse is enhanced by attentive staff who bring warmth and professionalism to every table. Guests commend the team’s dedication to creating a seamless dining experience, from the skilled preparation of cocktails like the house-crafted Monkey Bowl and Old Fashioned to genuine, friendly service that makes you feel at home. While the lively atmosphere occasionally competes with the jazz band’s smooth tunes, this vibrant energy is a testament to the restaurant’s role as a cherished community spot.

Families will appreciate that Townhouse thoughtfully caters to younger guests, offering a kids’ menu with well-loved favorites such as Grilled Cheese & Fries, Spaghetti & Meatballs, and Chicken Tenders & Fries, all priced affordably and served with care.

Real visitors echo this blend of charm and culinary quality. Gabriela Cadena admired the perfectly tender corned beef hash served for St. Patrick’s Day, though noted some price concerns on wings, while praising the well-crafted drinks. K Anderson found the Townhouse Salad and Smoked Chicken Rigatoni to be particularly memorable for their freshness and masterful textures. Anthony Chang's quick, fresh mussels paired with crisp Brussels sprouts highlighted the kitchen’s strong command of flavor and timing.

Whether you’re seeking a laid-back night out with a craft cocktail, a flavorful meal with friends, or a comfortable family dinner, Townhouse stands out as a must-visit destination in Emeryville. Its blend of classic California flavors, thoughtful menu selections, and inviting atmosphere make it a place to linger, savor, and return to again and again.

Loved the corned beef hash for St Patrick's Day dinner -- so tender. I would not get the wings again -- $17 for 6 pieces is too pricey. The drinks were great -- Manhattan and a zoni spritz. Will return. Will have to hear the story behind the storied building that was once a speakeasy.

The Townhouse salad was outstanding; each vegetable was fresh & ripe, evenly tossed with minimal vinegarette. The Smoked Chicken Rigatoni is the perfect combination of smoke kissed chicken, Calabrese sausage, and charred broccolini. The rigatoni is the definition of al dente.

First time there…good food and service. My only serious complaint, and this is will be debated by some. Make sure you do your OWN Tip Math. The hand held machine and tip options, tip on the total bill amount “including TAX” . I have no problem tipping well for good service and food but tipping the TAX man is just wrong.

It was clear who the seasoned staff were from the onset by the ‘second nature’ attention to detail. However that was the ONLY difference. The commitment to customer service was evident across the board! *Now worthy -The spirit of team work was evident in the support the seasoned staff offered to their new peers. In solidarity and without judgement or shaming! I love it Shout out to Grace! I see you It took a little minute for the entree to arrive however in the mean time folks checked in, made sure I was good and the food was worth the wait! I can’t say enough. And special thanks to Brooke for taking good care! WELL DONE TOWNHOUSE!!! I will definitely be returning. Also, don’t sleep on the dessert menu!!!

Had the mussels and Brussels sprouts, both were served quickly and fresh from the kitchen. Very flavorful and prepared nicely. The old fashioned was mixed in good proportions. Great service and atmosphere although it was a bit loud and I wished I could hear the live jazz band better over all the talking. Would love to try the braised ribs or ravioli next time.

Historic restaurant in Emeryville. Great venue for families searching for good food and a great atmosphere. This restaurant has a lot of history so it's more than just a great meal but also like a museum visit for kids. The food was very fast and quite delicious. The pork chop, wings and Brussels sprouts were especially nice and the service was very friendly. Highly recommend!

Pleasantly surprised by a Sunday brunch here. Great veggie scramble. Tasty Bloody Mary and friendly bartender.
